This piece was created in memory of Riley, and with deep compassion for a mother’s heart. As a mother myself, this loss is felt in a place beyond words—in the quiet, shared understanding of love that never leaves.
Snail Mates
We Grew in the Fire. Two Aries hearts—fire and force, learning how to stay. Like snails, we move slowly toward each other, carrying our lives, choosing love again and again. Surrounded by fireweed— a life shaped by forest and flame— and fireweed that blooms after the burn. Not in spite of the fire, but because of it. We didn’t fall apart. We grew.

Strong. Loud. Unapologetic. A presence that could both protect and challenge. Like the stag, he stands grounded in power. Surrounded by thistle—resilient, guarded, yet quietly blooming. Above, an eagle rises— a symbol of growth, of vision, of the softness that comes with time. I have loved his strength. I have struggled with it. And through both, it has shaped who I am.

The Hearts of Sweetgrass
This piece began as a portrait of my Salish Kootenai ancestors, but evolved into a reflection on generational patterns carried through the women in my family.
As I painted, I began to recognize themes of silence, resilience, and deep connection—echoing through sisters across time.
Hidden throughout the composition are subtle heart forms, symbolizing the enduring presence of love, even within loss. This work is an offering of awareness, connection, and the possibility of healing.
